Check a few things: enough RAM for your map size and mods, a location near your players, an easy way to install the mod launcher, a way to change settings without editing the database by hand, and automatic backups of the world. A free trial lets you test the connection before you pay. Our servers have all of these, with 20 locations and a 48-hour free trial.

A small world with a few friends runs on our 1 GB plan. Choose 3 GB for a modded community server, and 4 GB for a bigger map or a busy cluster node with lots of deeds and creatures. RAM goes up a gigabyte at a time on the Custom plan, up to 12 GB, and you can upgrade later without losing your world.

Install the mod launcher from the Mod Manager, upload each mod and its .properties file to the mods folder, re-save ModLauncher.bat in the Configuration Files section, then restart. Our mods guide has the folder layout, and there's a fix for modded servers after an update.

Open Settings.sql in the config editor, change what you need and save. Then press Update Server Settings on the Gamepanel home page, choose your game mode and run it: Wurm stores settings in its database, and that button writes them in. A brand-new or reinstalled server needs this once before it starts. See our settings guide.

Press Set GM Powers in the Gamepanel, choose the database, type the power level and the player's name, and run it. Wurm only capitalises the first letter of a name, so RagonzGM must be entered as Ragonzgm. Our GM guide lists every level, and the admin commands guide covers what you can do with them.

Both. Choose Creative or Adventure in the Commandline Manager and the server restarts in that mode. Each mode keeps its own world, so you can switch between them.

Yes. Take a backup with the Backup World button, upload the map or world files to the game mode's folder by FTP, rebuild the database from the Gamepanel and put the map name in Settings.sql. For a world moved from elsewhere, tick "Moving your world from somewhere else?" in Settings.sql. See our custom map guide.

Yes. Order a server for each world, then link them in Custom.sql and Neighbours.sql so players can travel between them. It's fiddly, so our support team will set the cluster up for you if you open a ticket. Our cluster guide has the steps.

The last official update on Steam was the 1.9.2.7 beta in January 2020, and Code Club AB's newer work has gone into Wurm Online. The game is stable, and most new content for Wurm Unlimited servers now comes from community mods.
