About Empyrion
Empyrion - Galactic Survival is a space sandbox survival game from Eleon Game Studios. You crash-land on a hostile planet, survive with what you can find, and work your way up to building capital vessels, space stations and planetary bases.
Players travel between planets and star systems, fight alien creatures and factions, mine resources, and design their own ships block by block. The game entered Early Access on Steam on 5 August 2015 and was fully released on 5 August 2020. Eleon still updates it: version 1.19 arrived in September 2026.
A dedicated server splits the galaxy into playfields, and each active playfield runs as its own process on the server. That's why RAM matters more than player slots for Empyrion, and why every plan here has unlimited slots and steps up on memory instead.

How to Join Your Empyrion Server
Your server's name, IP address and port are in the Gamepanel as soon as it's online.
From the server browser
- Launch Empyrion and choose Multiplayer.
- Search the server list for your server's name.
- Select it and click Join.
- Enter your server password if you've set one.
Server name, password and visibility are set in pingperfect.yaml.
Make yourself an admin
- Connect to the server with Telnet (PuTTY) or Empyrion Admin Helper.
- Give your account the admin role with the setrole command.
- Or stop the server and add your Steam ID to adminconfig.yaml.
- Start the server and join as usual.

How many players can join an Empyrion server?▾
Every plan has unlimited player slots. What limits a busy Empyrion server is memory: each playfield with players in it runs as its own process, so more players spread across more planets need more RAM.
How much RAM does an Empyrion server need?▾
9 GB is enough for a small group in the starting systems. For an active server, or a heavy scenario such as Reforged Eden, choose 15 GB. Reserve playfields, which keep spare playfield servers ready for busy public servers, use extra memory too, so 18 GB gives them room.
Can I run Reforged Eden on my server?▾
Yes. Upload the scenario and point the server at it. Our Reforged Eden guide has the steps.
Can I upload my existing savegame?▾
Yes. Upload it through FTP and set it as the active save. Our savegame guide walks you through it.
How do I make myself an admin?▾
Use the setrole command over Telnet, or add your Steam ID to adminconfig.yaml. See our admin guide.
Does Empyrion Admin Helper work with your servers?▾

Can I play on the beta branch?▾
Yes. Switch the server to the beta branch from the Gamepanel. Players need to be on the same branch to connect. Our beta branch guide shows how.
