About SCUM
SCUM is an open-world survival game from Gamepires, set on an island where prisoners fight to survive a televised game of life and death. It goes further than almost any survival game in simulating the body: calories, vitamins, hydration and even what you've eaten all affect how your character performs.
Skills improve as you use them, from weapon handling and stealth to cooking and lockpicking, so progress is earned over many sessions. The island mixes forests, towns, airfields and military bunkers, guarded by armed mechs, and players can build bases, run vehicles and choose between co-operation and all-out PvP.
SCUM entered Early Access on Steam on 29 August 2018 and left it with the 1.0 release on 17 June 2025, which brought a visual overhaul, a redesigned map and a recommended full wipe. By February 2026 it had sold nearly six million copies.
Most SCUM communities play on rented servers with their own raid windows, loot settings and economy, and many run a Discord bot alongside for shops, kill feeds and rewards. Big servers with lots of bases and vehicles need strong single-core CPU performance.

How to Join Your SCUM Server
Your server's IP address and port are in the Gamepanel as soon as it's online.
On PC (Steam)
- Launch SCUM and choose Multi Play.
- Type your server's name in the search bar and click Refresh.
- Or type the IP address and port from the Gamepanel into the direct connect bar.
- Enter the password if you've set one and join.

How do I join my SCUM server?▾
Choose Multi Play, then search for your server's name or connect directly with the IP address and port from your Gamepanel. The steps are in the how to join section above.
Is my server on SCUM 1.0?▾
Yes. New servers run 1.0. If you had a server before 1.0, the Gamepanel's Migrate to 1.0 button updates it, with a backup taken first, see our 1.0 update guide.
Which bots are supported?▾
WhalleyBot, PrisonerBot, Gamebotland and Scumatics-bot all work with our SCUM servers. Link the bot to your server and it's ready to go.
Can I add mods to my SCUM server?▾
Yes. Install the UE4 Scripting System (UE4SS) from the Mod Manager in your Gamepanel in one click, then add mods through the file manager or FTP. Take a backup first so you can roll back if a mod causes problems.
How do I make myself an admin?▾
Add your Steam64 ID as an admin user or elevated user from the Gamepanel. See our admin guide and elevated users guide.
Can I change raid times, loot and the economy?▾
Yes. See our guides to raid times and economy overrides. Loot and other server settings are editable through the file manager or FTP.
Can I whitelist or password-protect my server?▾

Why is my server's FPS low?▾
If it's around 5 FPS with nobody online, that's normal: SCUM servers drop into an idle state when empty and speed back up when players join. See our server FPS guide for what's normal and what to check.
Will my server update automatically?▾
You can schedule automatic updates in the Gamepanel when new SCUM patches release, or update in one click.
