About ARK: Survival Evolved
ARK: Survival Evolved is an open-world survival game from Studio Wildcard. Players wake up stranded on an island full of dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures, and have to gather, craft, build and tame their way to the top of the food chain, alone or as part of a tribe.
The game entered Early Access on 2 June 2015 and fully released on 29 August 2017. Players can tame and breed well over a hundred creatures, from Raptors and Rexes to Wyverns and Giganotosaurus, and use them to fight, explore, farm and defend their bases. Tribes share tames, structures and resources, so a busy server holds a lot of creatures and buildings at once.
Studio Wildcard closed the official PC servers for Survival Evolved on 30 September 2023, ahead of the Unreal Engine 5 remake, ARK: Survival Ascended. Survival Evolved itself is still sold and played, and community and rented servers are now where its players gather. In July 2025 it gained a new map, Aquatica, an underwater world with 21 new creatures, released for the game's 10th anniversary.
A large Steam Workshop library is a big part of why people still run Survival Evolved servers. Mods range from quality-of-life favourites like Structures Plus to total conversions, and server-side plugins through the ARK Server API add shops, Discord chat and more.

How to Join Your ARK: Survival Evolved Server
Your server's IP address and port are in the Gamepanel as soon as it's online.
On PC (Steam)
- Copy your server's IP address and port from the Gamepanel.
- In Steam, open View, then Game Servers, and add the address to your Favourites.
- Launch ARK, open the server browser, set the filter to Favourites and join.
- Or, from the main menu, press Tab to open the console and type
open IP:PORT.

- Add the crossplay commandline to your server in the Gamepanel Commandline Manager.

How do I join my ARK server?▾
On Steam, add the IP address and port from your Gamepanel to your Steam server favourites and join from the in-game Favourites list, or press Tab in the main menu and type open IP:PORT. Epic players connect through the console the same way. The full steps are in the how to join section above.
Is this ARK: Survival Evolved or ARK: Survival Ascended?▾
This page is for ARK: Survival Evolved, the original game. Survival Ascended is a separate game with its own servers, see our ARK: Survival Ascended server hosting. Saves and mods don't move between the two.
Which ARK maps are supported?▾
