Admin access lets you look after your server day to day. With it you can remove or ban troublesome players and make changes that regular players cannot. In Enshrouded, admin rights are not given to an account. They are granted to whoever joins using the admin password, so the first job is to find out (or choose) what that password is.

Step 1: Find or choose your admin password

The admin password lives in the server's main configuration file. You will need to edit it while the server is switched off.

1. Sign in to your game control panel and open your Enshrouded server.
2. Stop the server and wait for it to shut down fully.
3. Go to the Configuration Files section of the panel.
4. Open enshrouded_server.json in the text editor.
5. Find the Admin Group Password If you only need to know the current password, copy it from here. If you would rather use your own, replace the value with the one you want.
6. Choose Save & Exit to store your changes.
7. Start the server again. It will now use the admin password shown in the file.

Tip: Pick something different from the password your regular players use, and keep it to yourself and any other trusted admins.

Step 2: Join the server as an admin

Connect to your server the same way any player would. When the game asks for a password, type in the Admin Group Password from the configuration file instead of the normal player password. Entering it places you in the admin group straight away.

What admins can do by default

Anyone in the admin group starts with the following permissions:

• Kick and ban players
• Open chests and use factories
• Edit terrain and props inside bases
• Edit the world outside of bases
• Place flame altars, put out flames and upgrade bases

Checking that it worked

While you are connected, press Esc to open the in-game menu and select Your Server Permission. If you joined with the right password, every permission on that screen will be ticked. If some are missing, you have most likely entered the regular player password, so leave the server and rejoin with the admin one.
