Everything You Need to Run Your Server
Project Reclaimer Is Required
This server runs on Project Reclaimer, a community-made game client, so players cannot join it from the normal MCC menus. Every player needs all three of these:
- Their own Steam copy of Halo: The Master Chief Collection, with Halo 3 Campaign and Halo 3 Multiplayer installed
- The Project Reclaimer client, downloaded from projectreclaimer.dev (Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit)
- The same Project Reclaimer version as the server
Project Reclaimer contains no game files and loads Halo 3 from each player's own MCC installation.

Up to 127 Players on One Server
Halo 3 was built for 16 players. A Project Reclaimer dedicated server holds up to 127, with 64 against 63 in team games, in any game type and in Forge.
- Server Browser listing with live players and ping
- Ranks and service records that count big games
- Campaign co-op servers take up to 16 players

Your Own Playlist, Voted by Players
Build a rotation of maps and game types and let players vote on what comes next, or lock a server to a single map and mode.
- Three random games per ballot, weighted as you choose
- Scripted modes such as Gun Game, Growth and Zone Control
- Per-game rules, sprint settings and anti-cheat overrides

Forge Maps, Mods and Campaign Co-op
Host maps built in Forge, Steam Workshop mods and campaign co-op. Players who lack a Workshop mod download it through Steam when they join.
- Halo 3 campaign co-op servers, no player needed as host
- Halo 3: ODST campaign and Firefight servers, if ODST is installed in MCC
- Optional mod sharing straight from your server

Admins, Bans and Anti-Cheat
Kick and ban from the game or from the console, vote-kick, set a ping limit, and turn on VPN blocking. Anti-cheat is on by default.
- Admins by player ID
- Welcome messages and password-protected servers
- Remote console (RCON) for your own tools

Full Control at Your Fingertips
Our custom-built Gamepanel puts every server function one click away. Start, stop, restart and monitor your server from any browser, with no SSH or technical knowledge required.
- Config editor for dedicated.toml
- Web-based live console and logs
- Scheduled restarts and updates

One Subscription, Any Game
Don't cancel, just switch. Move your server to any of 250+ supported games whenever you like. Your slots and billing cycle carry over.
- 250+ games in the catalogue

Why Not Just Run It Yourself?
You can run Halo: The Master Chief Collection yourself. Here's what that actually looks like next to a rented server.
About Halo: The Master Chief Collection
Halo: The Master Chief Collection is 343 Industries' PC and Xbox bundle of the Halo series. Its Steam edition arrived in stages from December 2019, and Halo 3 joined it on 14 July 2020. Project Reclaimer is a separate community project that lets players host and join their own Halo 3 servers, which MCC's built-in matchmaking does not offer.
You need Project Reclaimer to play on this server. It is a standalone client from projectreclaimer.dev that loads Halo 3 from your own MCC installation, so you also need MCC on Steam with Halo 3 Campaign and Halo 3 Multiplayer installed. Everyone you play with needs both, and the same Project Reclaimer version as the server. As of 19 October 2026 that is version 0.9.20, which the project describes as an early development build, so details may change.
A Project Reclaimer dedicated server lists itself in the in-game Server Browser, so players find it by name with no setup. It supports playlists with lobby voting, Forge maps, Workshop mods, scripted game modes, campaign co-op and Halo 3: ODST, with up to 127 players in multiplayer.

How to Join Your Halo: The Master Chief Collection Server
Joining takes two things on your PC first: Halo: MCC with Halo 3 installed, and the Project Reclaimer client. Your server's name, IP address and port are in the Gamepanel as soon as it's online.
Before you join: install Project Reclaimer
- Own Halo: The Master Chief Collection on Steam, with Halo 3 Campaign and Halo 3 Multiplayer installed.
- Download project-reclaimer-client from the Project Reclaimer download page.
- Put it in its own folder, such as C:\Games\ProjectReclaimer, not inside the game's folder.
- Run it. The first launch builds about 350 MB of caches, which takes around half a minute.
You don't need to start the game through Steam. See the full requirements.
Join your server
- Open the Project Reclaimer client and choose Server Browser.
- Search for your server's name and select it.
- Choose Join Game, or use Direct Connect with the address from your Gamepanel.
- Enter the server password if you set one.
A server only admits players on exactly its own version. If it shows OTHER VERSION, update from the client's main menu.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need Project Reclaimer to play on this server?▾
Yes. This is a Project Reclaimer dedicated server, not a stock MCC server, so every player needs the Project Reclaimer client as well as their own copy of Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Players cannot join from the normal MCC menus.
What else do players need installed?▾
Halo: The Master Chief Collection on Steam with Halo 3 Campaign and Halo 3 Multiplayer installed, on Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit). Halo 3: ODST is optional and only needed for ODST's campaign and Firefight. Project Reclaimer contains no game files, so each player needs their own copy of the game.
What is Project Reclaimer?▾
A community-made client and dedicated server for Halo 3 that adds a Server Browser, hosting, playlists, Forge, mods and games of up to 128 players. It is a separate project from PingPerfect, and its developers describe it as an early development build, so features may change. See the how-to-play guide.
Does everyone need the same Project Reclaimer version?▾
Yes. A server only admits players on exactly its own version, so a 0.9.20 server cannot be joined by players on 0.9.19 or older. The client updates itself from the main menu. The newest build at the time of writing (19 October 2026) is 0.9.20.
How many players can join?▾
Up to 127 in multiplayer: 64 against 63 in team games, or a 127-player free-for-all. Campaign co-op servers and Halo 3: ODST servers take up to 16.
Can I run campaign co-op or Firefight?▾
Yes. A server can run Halo 3's campaign in co-op with no player as host, and Halo 3: ODST's campaign or Firefight if ODST is installed in MCC. Players without ODST see a NEEDS ODST label on those servers.
Can I use mods and Forge maps?▾
Yes. Players who lack a Steam Workshop mod download it through Steam when they join, and you can also share mods directly from the server. Saved Forge maps can be hosted like any other map, in a playlist or as the server's single map.
How do I make myself an admin?▾
Add your player ID to the admins list in dedicated.toml. You can find your ID in the client under Settings → Online services → Player ID. Admins can kick and ban from the scoreboard or by chat command.
How much does a Halo MCC server cost?▾
Plans start from $0.00/month for 16 players. 64 players is $0.00/month and 127 players is $0.00/month. Every plan comes with a 48-hour free trial.
How long has PingPerfect hosted Halo: The Master Chief Collection servers?▾
