Rust: Deep Sea Conquest
FROM MODULAR BOAT BUILDING TO SURVIVING GHOST SHIP BATTLES – EXPLORE ALL THE GAME-CHANGING FEATURES IN RUST’S NAVAL UPDATE
Set sail into Rust’s most ambitious naval update featuring an expansive Deep Sea biome beyond the map’s borders. Build custom warships from the ground up, discover mysterious floating settlements and scattered tropical islands, and battle through dangerous waters patrolled by armed Ghost Ships and PT Boats. This massive expansion brings fully modular boat construction with mounted cannons and engines, a sprawling ocean monument filled with vendors and casinos, and brutal new naval warfare mechanics that will test even the most seasoned survivors.
What’s BEING IMPLEMENTED?
DEEP SEA Biome

The Deep Sea brings a colossal new aquatic expanse stretching beyond Rust’s island perimeter, unlocked by sailing past the map’s maritime threshold. This hostile environment showcases one-of-a-kind destinations like towering ocean monuments, spectral warships, and scattered paradise islands, all surrounded by aggressive currents and extreme weather patterns.
MODULAR BOAT BUILDING

A new modular boat system lets players build custom vessels from scratch using a Boat Building Station placed in shallow water. Similar to base building, players use a Boat Plan to assemble ships piece by piece with components like wooden hulls, sails, engines, steering wheels, anchors, cannons, storage boxes, and Tool Cupboards for upkeep.
Once completed, boats can’t be modified without full reconstruction. All parts use wood as the primary material, with current limits allowing vessels up to 12×12 in size and 19 blocks tall. Ships require upkeep like bases and can dock at oil rigs using custom ladders and platforms.
BOAT COMBAT

Player-built boats can be completely destroyed, adding a new dimension to naval warfare in Rust. Vessel durability scales with size — small boats sink quickly while larger ships can take sustained fire. Rockets, high-velocity ammo, and incendiary rounds all cause damage, and once a boat’s health reaches zero, it sinks.
Damage affects the entire vessel rather than individual components, so you can’t target specific sections. Explosions also create physical force, letting you push or shake enemy ships with well-aimed rockets. Once a boat goes down, it’s gone permanently — no repairs or salvage possible.
TROPICAL ISLANDS

Tropical islands are scattered across the Deep Sea, complete with sandy shores, palm trees, and thick jungle growth. Building isn’t currently allowed on these islands, but they break up the endless water and create natural landmarks. Future updates may transform them into resource hotspots, event zones, or hidden treasure locations.
FLOATING CITY

The Floating City is a massive new ocean monument built on interconnected barges and platforms, combining elements of Outpost, Bandit Camp, and Fishing Village. Unlike those monuments, it’s not a safe zone — PvP is enabled everywhere. The city features a 150-scrap greenhouse for harvesting crops, vendors selling weapons, diving gear, and boats, plus a recycler. There’s also a casino area with slot machines, poker tables, Chippy arcades, and instruments, along with new missions like “Kill Scientists.” It’s one of Rust’s most elaborate monuments, packed with danger and valuable loot.
GHOST SHIPS

Ghost Ships are mysterious AI-controlled vessels that appear throughout the Deep Sea. Crewed by blue scientists, these stationary ships engage players who come near. They can’t be piloted by players and function as mini-events, dropping basic loot like barrels and crates — though rewards may improve in future updates.
