You may have seen popular public Minecraft servers which allow players to connect with different versions of Minecraft installed.

This is achieved via plugins, so your server must be running Spigot/Bukkit!
(If it's not, you can see how to set that up here: Spigot | Bukkit)

Now you just need to install the relevant plugin - You'll want to install:

    • ViaVersion if you want newer versions of Minecraft to be able to connect to older server version.
    • ViaBackwards if you want older versions of Minecraft to be able to connect to a newer server version.
    • ViaRewind if you want versions older than 1.8 to connect to a newer server version.

    How to install ViaVersion/ViaBackwards/ViaRewind

    1. Download the version you need by clicking the links above.
    2. Stop your server.
    3. Transfer/upload the plugin from your PC to the server's plugins folder.
(If you're unsure how to transfer files please follow this guide: Accessing Your Files)
    4. Start the server.
    5. That's it!
