Please note that experimental updates usually require world wipes. If you want to try one out without losing your world you can just change the "GameName" value in your config file which will keep your old world but generate a new one on reboot, otherwise you can use the reset world button.

  1. Choose the update you want on your pc by right clicking on the game, selecting properties and going to the betas tab(in this example we are going to choose latest_experimental)7_days_to_die_beta_update_8.png
  2. Open your game panel and click on the beta update button

  3. Type in the beta branch name you want and enter a password if it requires one then click execute7 days to die beta update guide 2

  5. go back to the main page of the game panel and click on configuration files7 days to die beta update guide 6
  6. click on configuration editor next to pingperfect.xml7 days to die beta update guide 7
  7. Make sure you have the alpha version you are using ticked and all others unticked (for example if you want to use alpha 19 you would tick "Alpha 18/Alpha 19")7 days to die beta update guide 4
  8. Go back to the main page of the game panel and click restart7 days to die beta update guide 5
  9. After the server has restarted, if you had a world in Alpha 18 it should convert to Alpha 19 (but we always recommend a new world) if you do not have an existing world you will need to wait for the server to generate a world which can take some time depending on your world size
