With the addition of the ranked game mode introduced in Patch #9, players now have the ability to play ranked matches against other players, in a 1 vs 1 style format.
First, you will play 15 placement matches. Once complete you will be assigned a rank tier based on your matchmaking rank. There is however no in-game explanation of the rank tiers currently, so below is an image which explains the rank tiers.
