Experimental mode?

Is there any way to run the experimental builds on a hosted server?

I assume you mean by using the beta branch from steam?

If you can obtain the beta branch you want to use along with a password (if there is one) I will ask the tech team to implement a button in the game panel you can use to do this.

One of the Grav devs posted this in the steam forums, and I think its what you are looking for..
Hello! Welcome to the forum for those of you so eager; so inexplicably brave; so noble and so savvy that you just can't stand playing that old crappy version of GRAV everyone is playing. You need the NEWEST, the LATEST, and the GREATEST.

So, still want to try out the latest experimental, unsafe, super secret (not really), amazing, newer than newest builds of GRAV? Awesome!!! Here's how you do it:

1) right click GRAV in your steam library, and go to properties
2) click on the BETAS tab in the top right
3) Enter the beta code: "iacceptmyfate" in the private beta box and click CHECK CODE
4) You should now see a new item in the drop down called "Experimental", select it and then click close
5) let steam update GRAV to this fancy new test build
6) join any server with EXPERIMENTAL in the name (e.g. "BitMonster Alpha Test Server EXPERIMENTAL" and wreck havoc!
7) pat yourself on the back for doing a good deed today, you awesome, brave, simply heroic person you

This forum should be the place to talk about new features in the experimental branch (and new unfeatures sometimes referred to as bugs).

CONS> Keep in mind experimental servers are EXPERIMENTAL! The build might not be stable, aliens might spawn out of your face and devour your base, who knows what will happen.

PROS> We would very much appreciate everyone's help testing the latest and greatest builds from BitMonster. This community has been outstanding so far in helping when we need it, and it's through your help that we'll get GRAV to its full potential. Also, you get to act super smug when you have played the latest builds before everyone else :)

We have been running our server in experimental mode for a couple days now and it looks like its working perfectly. The only issue we ran into was when we were trying to run the experimental update the first couple times. The update script came up with a failed to process file #xxxxxx error, but after running it a second time there wasnt an issue. Keep up the great work guys!

It seems after bitmonster put out the patch 11 pre3 version of the experimental branch, the experimental update script no longer works, as the server automatically reverted to version 10.3. Im putting in a help ticket now
